Jennifer's Body is a well directed horror but one with few scares. There is gore, the wicked one-liners courtesy of scribe Diablo Cody work more often than not and the big surprise is..... Megan Fox plays the body in question very well! But the star of the show isn't Megan - as the marketing campaign would have you believe, wisely, the girl is a good sell. No, the actress who elavates the film from bargain bin to cult status is Amanda Seyfried who plays Needy Lesnicki, Jennifer Check's lifelong BFF.
Long relegated to living in her more beautiful friend's shadow, the shy and retiring wallflower must step-up to protect the town's young men from Jennifer's insatiable appetite after she is possessed by a hungry demon. It is a fun sell, and Seyfried carries the film as she does the weight of the town on ample shoulders. Her scenes with Megan Fox work well, packed full of bitchy dialogue and her relationship with boyfriend Chip is cute. I sure hope he survives!!!!! SARCASM
The lipstick lesbian scene that has been publicised was un-called for and didn't fit one bit, why they included it into the film is shameless and it just doesn't work. Well it does, on one level but only if your internet is down and your pants are around your ankles. What does work is the look of the town, 'Devil's Kettle' in which the film is set, with the dated decor's and hick bar.... the town and its people are very middle america and for all the right reasons.

As not to give away anymore spoilers I will conclude that Jennifer's Body is trashy but worthy of a Saturday night viewing. The film won't be to everyones taste, there must be at least five of you who won't appreciate Diablo Cody's banter (how could you not?) but for anyone unsure there is a lot going on to keep you entertained.
Sexual power games, female friendships that bite, the trials of adolescene played out to a thumping soundtrack and Megan Fox burning her tongue with a lighter and liking it........ need I go on? Jennifer's Body scores a solid B.
