IT'S ALIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIVE!!! NO WAIT... IT'S DEFINITELY DEAD.

It's Alive continues the quite worrying trend of remaking a horror film in the hope that it's name alone will equal box office moola, because lets face it, it's a formula that works 90 percent of the time, and lets all agree.... american remakes rarely offer a different perspective or genuinely great premise for remaking in the first place. But recent successes at the Box Office like Halloween, Friday the 13th and My Bloody Valentine mean the Studios will continue to pump out the reboots and serial additions as long as we cinema goers continue to hand over the pennies. For sure we are caught in a vicious cycle.

This film is moderately paced, there isn't nearly enough action and Bijou Phillips is seriously underused- playing the Mother. The set-pieces in which her serial killer baby (Yes you read that correctly) eats his way through a cast of average looking unknowns are completely over-the-top - as if the idea of a serial killing baby wasn't ludicrous enough. And the ending is just pointless. It really is.

Sooooo, if you fancy yourself some tacky thrills with a baby that bites check out the original (1974) but I would recommend that you avoid this unnecessary second outing. Even if you do get a glimpse of Bijou's half eaten nipple..... it certainly doesn't titillate on any molecular level.
