Interview with Munroe Bergdorf

Tell us a little about Boy Couture and how the collaboration came about between Boy London and yourself you self-proclaimed Soho Princess you?

BOY has always had a close relationship with nightlife personalities, I think that the owner Stephane Raynor and the PR Joelle Hyland wanted to continue that trend with someone that understands both fashion and the BOY brand… I think the line stays true to its 1980's roots, yet also moves it into an alternative sphere for a new audience.

What makes you a Soho Princess anyways? Do you like, live in a castle and have boys falling at your feet proposing every five minutes?

Yeah... you have my close friend Nik Thakkar to thank for that title, not my doing. And no, unfortunately no castle or proposals… yet.

Who would you say the Collection is aimed at?

I think the collection has something for everyone, worn alone it's quite a statement without looking try hard, but teamed with the right separates or accessories it can either be made more to look more casual or extravagant…

And if you could choose any celebrity who you’d like to see wearing pieces from the collection, who do you think would wear the Boy Couture look well?

LIVING for Iggy Azalea right now, 'My World' is a complete tune and she looks SICKENING in everything she wears. I'd love to get her rocking some of the pieces.

Your favourite piece from the collection?
It's hard to choose… I love how the full length black fringed dress moves. It's definitely a statement piece without being too obvious.

What do you like to wear when you’re playing the part of ‘DJ’ Soho Princess?

I love wearing clothes that can be seen from across a room… People should either be saying "Who's that" or "There she is", anything less than... what's the point?!

A song that makes your heart skip a beat?

At the moment its most definitely anything by Lana Del Rey turned up REALLY loud and on repeat. I'm a tad obsessed.

A guilty pleasure you can’t seem to quit?

Clicking my neck and fingers, I'm really bad with that, it's really loud too… I love doing it in public and freaking people out. I think it's from wearing ridiculous sized heels for so many years, I should really sort it out but it’s SO satisfying.

Which item of clothing in your closet gets most wear and why?

Probably all of my vintage fur, it's so cold here in the UK at the moment I'm layering like a motherfucker and insulating the heat with a tone of animal.

Would you like to ask Portis Wasp a question?

Is Portis Wasp your real name? If not, how did that come about?

Portis Wasp is not my real name Munroe. I decided to create a name for my blog and quite randomly chose The Wasp Factory by Iain Banks and Portishead (the band) to sex together to make Portis Wasp. He’s the darker more dangerous version of regular ole me. A little more on edge, quite a bit louder.

What never fails to make you smile?

My boyfriend's laugh.

Pleasure to have you doll! Save a song on your set for me next time you’re playing!
