The Launch of House of Fraser's Mens Style Event in Glasgow

Last night I attended the launch of House of Fraser's Spring Mens Style Event in their Glasgow store which kicked off four days of exclusive menswear promotions and discounts in store for all you dapper gents to take advantage of.

But let me start by answering the question everyone wants answered;  Is Scottish Rugby International John Barclay worthy of inclusion in next year's Dieux du Stade Calendar?

Yes, I believe he is.

Located on the first floor of the store, which, I don't know if you've heard, has quite a long and distinguished history, the mens collections in House of Fraser in Glasgow are masterfully presented to create a shopping "experience" for gents.  This is something we all expect when shopping for an expensive suit or pair of two-tone brogues.  But it's not something I experience often enough when shopping.  You want to properly enjoy the browsing experience before handing over your black amex (and worrying that mid-transaction the cashier will receive a call from your bank to say "nuh uh, he does not need more Burberry), so in a lot of ways the best advertisement for the new collections that were showcased last night is the store itself.

Taking a moment to be jealous of a 10-year old.

The first floor was given a further injection of cool last night with Glasgow Barbershop Rebel Rebel offering free shaves and styling to those brave enough.  I was one of the ones not brave enough to ask them to shave ten years off my face but when I get around to posting some photos along with the chat I had with Alan, the owner of Rebel Rebel, you will see that I was indeed brave enough (albeit somewhat reluctant) to sit down in his chair and let him straighten out my curls in order to create quite the "bangtidy" quiff.  Turns out I had nothing to worry about.  I even slept upright last night so that I could work this look to the gym later today.

I also had some time with rugby ace John Barclay to discuss important Rugby matters like...  How much can he bench press?  Does he have any guilty pleasures?  Will he follow in the footsteps of Thom Evans and Ben Foden one day and get his kit off for fashion photographers so that we can objectify him properly?  That kind of lark.  John was a very good sport and a really pleasant chap to chat with it has to be said, so keep an eye out for my interview with him which I will post on the blog very soon!

I should add that John did 'offer' to remove his clothes for these photos but I felt at the time that it wouldn't have been fair to any of the other men attending the event. Sorry.  My bad.

Another unexpected highlight of the night was the selection of "recommended" looks that GQ had put together for the event, made up of pieces from a number of brands which included; Kenneth Cole, Ralph Lauren, and Howick.  A perfect edit for someone who has an eye for fashion but needs a little help in putting all the pieces of the puzzle together to create a look that will stop traffic, for all the right reasons.

I could go into further detail about each of the collections but I would much prefer for you to pop in and have a look around the store should you find yourself in Glasgow over the next few days. Trust me, there's something in store to suit each and every one of you.

I'll leave you now with a few more photos from the event along with details of all the giveaways and promotions available to shoppers, which I have listed at the foot of this post.  You have until Sunday to take advantage of all the promotions along with a number of discounted brands, so get down to House of Fraser on Buchanan Street and treat yourself to quite the lovely shopping "experience".

Every launch event needs a good DJ.
The Corinthian Club provided some whiskey based cocktails.

Whilst Yo! Sushi prepared some tasty treats for shoppers!
Someone being treated to a very close shave from Alan, Rebel Rebel.
Kiehl's offered facials and skin care tutorials to shoppers looking for grooming tips.

A wee cutey who was working in the men's shoes department who I forced into getting her picture taken...
She then forced me to into getting my picture taken.
Myself and Kim (Regional PR for House of Fraser) and yes, I really need to shave!
