My interview with artist Saint Hoax

Hi Saint Hoax! How are you?
I’m great! How are you?

I'm great thanks! Talk me through an average day in the life of you?
Get up – work till almost 8pm – shower – my friends start coming over after 9 – by 12am it’s usually a full house – we smoke up / eat / play / watch useless YouTube links or documentaries about insects – go to bed around 3am… And repeat!

How did you come up with the name Saint Hoax?
I wanted to create a name that contradicts itself. Saint / Pure : Hoax / Lie … And that kind of describes all the doctored images I share.. Pure lies…

How long have you been creating art for?
Ever since I was a little kid. But Saint Hoax is 2 years old.

You describe yourself as a poplitically incorrect artist/sociopolitical activist. What is it about your work that you think appeals to your fans the most?
I visualize what everyone else is thinking.

From political figures to pop culture personalities, Disney to films like Mean Girls, your work has featured many recognisable faces. Is it fair to say that you are a fan of most of the people you feature in your work?
Of course I am. I wouldn’t be spending time working on their faces if I didn’t find them exciting in some way.

Your work has understandably attracted a large audience on Instagram! Does having nearly 400,000 followers on Instagram affect what you post online in any way?
I’d be lying if I said it doesn’t affect what I post. I feel like I used to get away with posting whatever I wanted in the past, but I don’t anymore. I kind of have to pay attention to what I’m trying to say because I’m communicating it to a larger audience.

If you could only show one of your creations to someone who hadn’t seen your work before, which piece would you choose and why?
I usually show “War Drags You Out”, my first Saint Hoax project. I think it perfectly describes what my vision is all about.

Who is one of your favourite artists?
Walt Disney

Do you have a favourite Instagram account you like to follow?
@bretmanrock cracks me up.

You recent collaborated with Plastik Magazine on a blow-up Donald Trump doll and worked with Vijat Mahindra on Miley’s brilliant Christmas single artwork! Can we expect more Saint Hoax collaborations in 2016?
Yes! I’m currently working on some exciting projects!

Do you also have plans to exhibit your work this year?
Also yes, it’s supposed to take place at the end of this year.

Let's end this with a game of “Shoot, Shag or Marry”! You have to pick one person to shoot, one person to shag, and one to marry (for at least 72 days).

Your options are:

1. Kim
2. Kanye
3. Khloe

Shag Kim, marry Kanye, shoot Khloe.

Thanks Saint Hoax!
